| Guide to ReportingIntroductionAt the upper left of every post, you can find an icon that looks like this - . This exclamatory icon represents the Report Button. Throughout this guide I will tell you when to use the Report Button, how to use it, and why to use it. Why to use itThere are many reasons why you should use the Report Button. Here are just a few: - When you use the Report Button correctly (we'll touch on that later), you are helping the KIFG Forum community become a safer and better place
- You automatically alert every KIFG Staff Member, including Administrators. This may improve your chances of becoming a moderatoryouself
- You feel a sense of pride as you know that you have prevented harmful material from lurking on the site
Those reasons are just a few, and there are several more. When to use itThere are several scenarios when it would be helpful for you to use the Report Button. Here are some: - When a post contains innapropriate, or harmful language. This is covered in the *Innapropriate and Foul Language* part of the Forum Rules:
- Quote :
- Here at KIFG Forum, we do not allow ANY kind of Foul and/or inappropriate language of any kind. This includes cussing, cursing, and insulting.
- If the post was created to deliberately be harmful or hurtful to another member. This includes offensive content.
- If a topic becomes unable to manage. If fights and starting, or the thread is very off-topic, report it.
- If there are any outside links present in the post. This is covered in the *Outside Links and Youtube* section of the Forum Rules:
- Quote :
- We do not want outside links here, which is posting a link to another site. The only sites your aloud to post to is wizard101.com , any of our partner sites, and this site itself. Otherwise your post will be deleted.
- If the post is not G-rated in every way. This is covered in the *THIS SITE IS G-RATED* part of the Forum Rules:
- Quote :
- This site is g-rated, Which means it IS kid-friendly and family-friendly. We do not allow any content that is anything over g-rated content.
- If the post is breaking any other Forum Rule. This includes spamming, inappropriate pictures, avatar/signature size, personal information, backseat moderating, username/password, release, any sign of hacking, requests for codes or gifts, language other than English, and youtube videos without noted approval.
How to use itPerhaps the easiest thing to comprehend and understand from this guide. To report a post, click the respective icon - - , and provide a simple explanation on why the post should be reported. Quoting a Forum Rule is very helpful when explaining. Remember, you don't have to make it a paragraph. Just make it something Staff Members can comprehend and understand the problem with a quick read. ConclusionPlease remember, the Report Button should not be used carelessly. It is a tool that can be helpful, if used correctly. If used incorrectly, it can be harmful, which may even result in its removal. Please, use it responsibly, and when in doubt, feel free to report. Most of the time your conscience is correct. We encourage you to feel helpful when you report a post. Never feel scared, as you're doing the right thing. If, for some reason, your Report Button refuses to function correctly, contact an Administrator immediately. Who knows? Perhaps one time you will report something and a moderator will thank you for it. After all, you're helping them do their job. Sincerely, Luke | |
